What does “spirit” mean to you? Is it personal? Transcendent? Communal? Dear Rouge offers up its latest, Spirit, as an exploration of these themes, as we all emerge from a season steeped in hardship and isolation. Drew and Danielle McTaggart took up residence in a lakeside cabin following their stellar sophomore record PHASES, finding themselves alone together as Spirit took form over the winter months. “I had this epiphany,” Danielle shared, “that we needed to come back to ourselves and the joy and comfort we found in each other when we began writing music together.” It’s a return to vulnerability, honesty, and authenticity from these stellar artists.
